After accusations of plagiarism and trademark violation from a vendor not on this forum during our fourth OudFest in 2020, we decided to conduct some research which threw up some interesting results:

1. The vendor did not have a trademark on the term as he claimed.

2. The vendor had actually taken the term themselves from a blog entry published in 2012, titled “Oud Fest I” where their products were evaluated along with two other oud vendor products.

Due to the above and the history of anti-competitive behaviour from this vendor, the forum decided to register the term as a trademark to protect the future of the OudFest.

Due to a lack of funds, Rising Phoenix offered to trademark the US term while the forum trademarked the term for the UK. For the forum, staying true to its philosophy of inclusiveness and cooperation with likeminded vendors, even though Rising Phoenix is no longer with us, we support their right to freely operate the OudFest and further details can be found below.

Rising Pheonix, a former Resident of this community is currently holding an OudFest in Atlanta, USA.

More information about this event is available on their Instagram page.
