You need to check the forum you have just registered on here Ksaif..... Here... https://www.ouddict.com/forums/history-of-oud.93/
Fake and real...can best be learned through experience. EBAY probably not a good place to start your journey....
But read through this forum and you will have an excellent grounding in all things Oudh...as for the rest...experience...and keep your money to yourself for as long as you can...and to avoid being ripped off...buy from very reputable source and vendors here...

These are all very "big" questions - definitely lots to learn on the forum here. I'd say take everything you read and hear about the most "expensive-ist" ouds with a grain of salt bc it's all quite relative anyway to whom you are speaking, as well as your general understanding of oud, and what gives one quality over another.

These are loaded questions with lots of answers. I don't know much about the history of oud but I hope someone else does. I can tell you that agarwood is mentioned in the bible five times. Jesus was anointed with an oil made from agarwood and some other ingredients after he died.

I would say the most expensive oud in the world is ...... priceless. Usually the most valuable oud wood is not distilled into oil, but kept in its original form. I know the big Chinese oud tycoons have some prized Kyara logs that they simply will not sell no matter what. There is a tree in front of a religious temple(I think Buddhist). There are monks that stay there and if I remember right the tree is hundreds of years old. It has some religious significance so they will not sell it. Someone offered them 23 million to buy the tree and they turned down the offer.

There are other options that are simply very rare and won't be distilled. It would end up costing $15,000+ per quarter tola to distill certain woods and people just don't really do it.

There are some very expensive oils that are actually on the market. Ensar has a few oils that are ~$5,000 for 3g. He recently removed an oil from his website that was $500 for 0.15 grams, which works out to be 10,000 for 3g.

Back in the day when high quality wood was less expensive, what distilled some ouds that will simply never be made again. Those oils can reach well into the 5 digit range.

If I'm not mistaken ensar most expensive is the original Brunei kinam which is $10500 for 3g

The mentioning of Oud in the Bible is correct, only it isn’t under the name “Oud” or even “agarwood”. The word used is “aloes”, and it is mentioned in Numbers 24:6; Psalm 45:8; Proverbs 7:17; Song of Solomon 4:14; and the aforementioned John 19:39. Just in case anyone wanted to look deeper into it.

If it’s accurate then the known advent of distillation in the region is older then archeological dictates. Unless the individuals involved got oil imported from China .

Are there archeological dictates of the first known agarwood distillations? That would be neat to look into.
