Old Tarakan like this smells very similar to Old Brunei - and old Brunei doesn’t smell like what most folks see nowadays.
This stuff smells ancient.
Nearly all the stuff we see being sold as Tarakan today really comes from mainland Borneo. Genuine Old Tarakan pieces like this will have to have been harvested prior to the 1980’s to be genuinely from the Island of Tarakan.
I got these from a Collegue of mine who has been collecting Agarwood for 70+ years. He’s old. And so are his woods. Been in his possession since they came out of the jungle more than 5 decades ago.
