Hi, dear Ouddicts.

seems like this coronavirus situation is getting out of control all over the world. and it seriously affecting our daily lives. people are panicking, the market is freezing. the border is shutting down. it's not hard to see lines of people waiting to buy masks these days.

I wish you and your family safe from the virus and stay healthy. it is a dark time but we will get through this.
keep smelling. smell dang good as always. cheers. God bless you. peace be upon you. :praying:

USA has done a poor job ramping up our response. I’ve been teaching rooms full of 30 students all week. No one has been diagnosed with it at my school but as of now we are closed for at least two weeks. I have no idea if I was exposed to the bug this week or not.

One of the first US cases was at a school in my region

There are NO masks available in stores I am told. I just happened to have a handful of N 95 respirators on hand (they are disposable though and I don’t quite understand how to safely use them).

We had 2 people in my town infected but they recovered and are back in population with the rest of us. No masks available and the stores are running low on things but not out yet. Our schools are open but we have taken our children out.
California seems super slack on this, not closing school, no tests available, no restrictions of any type.
Keep safe and avoid the crowds
Social distances are key

Our government doing a pretty good job managing the situation. such as instantly inform a resident those lives near the infection happened, restricting people to buy supplies(mask, toilet paper) to prevent hoarding.
people are generally following the rules to help each other.

Let's keep us sane :praying:

Singapore is a model nation when it comes to such issues.
The government is proactive, ahead of the game and the citizens follow diligntly . Mr Lee like his father the man famously known as the Tiger of Asia for his skillful politics, have done very well with a city nation that has near zero natural resources.

In the dongguan and Shenzhen city, the government still check and control the corona virus rather strict, the schools still not open, lots of check points check the body temperature, and require people wear the respirators when go out. The situation is getting better, dongguan city only have 3 cases in hospital, Shenzhen still have about 20 cases, the other hundreds are recovered. Lots of companies start the productions of the respirators, some export. The corona virus is spreading fast and no good medicine for it. If not necessary then stay home, wear respirators when go out.
Keep safe and avoid the crowds. :praying:

The US is feeling like a backwater these days. My governor (Oregon) did not want to close schools at all and was only forced to because of staffing issues! She couldn’t understand that keeping them open would increase the spread of the virus. She literally said, out loud, that leaving the schools open wouldn’t have any effect on its spread. This is our local leader...

Schools are still open here in NYC - it's more complicated than you might think. We have over 1 million kids who depend on school meals and their parents depend on the daily childcare.

So, same thing in Chicago. Many people who depend on the public school system for food and taking care of their children when they work. I get that. The governor of IL just shut down the schools for several weeks, so there's really no choice here. I have no opinion other than wanting people not to get sick nor die.

Indeed, and it is a good thing to think carefully whenever schools have to contemplate a closure. This is a pandemic however so maybe there are other options we can imagine? Disaster socialism? Teachers are not trained to manage large crowds during pandemics, and at my school many teachers and aides are in the 60-70 age range. Parents are notorious for sending kids to school when sick, in spite of clear policies. Not a reasonable solution if you ask me...

In the UAE, they closed the school for a month.
High risk staff can work from home.
If someone just reenters the country, self quarantine for 14 days.
No more visa on arrival for now.

Right now social distancing is one of the best we can do to control the spread. That doesn't mean we have to stop smelling great. So oud it away!

In the UK they kept the schools open as the government want the kids to actively spread this to their parents - if you do not believe me (it sounds insane) go and check official UK government policy. They want to infect 60% of the population so the country develops a "herd immunity" - 45 million people infected? I took my children out of school immediately and stocked up for two months and am hunkered down.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/13/herd-immunity-will-the-uks-coronavirus-strategy-work. - totally insane given that this implies 20% will need hospitalisation (thats 9 million people as 20% on average need hospital treatment). So they basically want a population cull - how else can you interpret this? The people here have taken their cue from this announcement on Thursday and mass-panic is slowly setting in.

Some papers are saying that there will tents erected outside old peoples care homes. Think about that for a second. Tents don't have all the facilities of hospitals. They are basically hospices for the victims to die - that is my perspective on this. The same papers are also saying that the army will soon be deployed on the streets to protect hospital and supermarkets - a wartime condition. It still feels a but like a phoney war at the moment, but I think the situation is about to deteriorate rapidly.

Again, what the heck? is this really how civilized, educated politician's move? wow. I lost my words...

I generally don't talk about politics but that's another level insanity what's happening there.

Sweden are following the same "strategy".
They want the infection to spread while protecting the "weak"... that's why they are refusing to close the schools etc.

The borders are still open like nothing is happening... they already said: get prepared to get infected. It is not as dangerous as it seems etc etc

Here in Ireland we are finding the attitude of the uk government more then shocking,
We are nearly in total lockdown here, not official but the population are largely taking the initiative . Problem is the border with Northern Ireland where one side of the sectarian divide is following the uk approach. Again ****ing politics
The spread of K19 needs to be slow and drawn out if health care is to cope with the sick. A sudden spread with kill so many of the valuable older members of society. The next person I hear saying "oh it's only the old and comprised that will die" is going to get wake up call from me they will never forget.
On the bright side, self isolation is my ideal holiday, incense making, gardening, playing with my dog
