Has Anyone Tried Sinensisoud’s Oils?

Mr.P

Evoloudtionary Bioudlogist
Has anyone here tried sinensisoud’s oils? Can you recommend one to me? My goal is for a nice tangy unfermented sinensis oil without sour or fecal / barn notes. Please PM me if you don’t feel comfortable writing about it in the form itself.

They say they are the biggest commercial plantation/distillery in Hainan. If you order some economical oud let us know how it stacks up.

I placed an order last month for a 1gr sample of each oil he has, it's taken a little while tbh apparently this is due to the Chinese New Year, but it should be arriving very soon.

Was tempted by KZ’s write up (was the same producer i think), received just a list of oils and with nothing to go on, decided to pass.
Looking forward to hearing more from those who have tried them.

Well tell us all, were the oils any good? Were they run of the mill commercial or on the artisan level?

After sampling 1 through 6,
I chose to get a bottle of #2
through my oudd buddy;)

The price is right:D

It is definitely worth it to try a sample pack, the barny one is quite interesting, and there are hydrodistilled ones as well. It won’t break the bank, and I can see others taking a liking to some, and maybe all of them....based on personal preference.

The grade of wood used is certainly not China market, just do the math, but I didn’t find any of them to be awful. In fact, I’ve smelled oils from some of our in house vendors that I liked a lot less, but that’s just me.

Again...if anyone is inclined, why not give it a try.

If you guys r talking about Yuzhi Oud then yes their Hainan sweet, Ethereal floral(Hyd) , Premium hydrodistilled and Hainan Canton(hyd) r worth trying.. I've tried and written reviews on Instagram @attaroudh369 too... But it may not b matching with some artisanal grades.. however the price at which it is offered is really worth trying... N lastly for plain Barnyardish note lovers .. their Royal Fermented ( Hydrodistilled) is really an amazing stuff.

I have 1,3,4,6,7,8,9.

1,3,4 are very linear in fashion. No dry down nothing, what you get from the first moment is all that you end up with. Take note: this is not a bad thing, it’s perfect for making perfumes. Or for people who love a particular aspect of the oud smell development.
if they had the dry down smell, I would be keen, as that’s one of my favorite aspects of oud. You have to note he supplies mainly to fragrance makers.

6,7,8,9 develop and are more layered more of what you would expect from a purchased oud oil.

1: has a very sweet toffee vanilla type of smell, similar to walking into a candy shop, never burnt Chinese oud but I can see the resemblance from the other woods I have burnt on low temp. Quite interesting mouth wateringly sweet.

3: has smells of mid barn. Not overly strong but it’s pretty much pure mid barn, I can see it’s use in a perfume I guess, which is the main target market

4: smells purely of the top notes you would experience in some of the others, very pleasant.

6-9 are more interesting, in terms of development

6/7 seem like they could have been a blend of the 1,4 with something else.

So far my personal fave at this point is 9. Which I can only describe as more elegant when compared to 6/7 but let’s see how I feel after a few more wears.

So my preference so far is 6,7,9

I’m ok with some barn but 8 is way too barny for me. I smelt the leather and others developing but every now and than I get hit with a face of strong barn.. like the smell of freshly fertilized lawn, too much for me, had to wash this one off which is not something I typically do. Guess this is barn lover territory.
if your looking for a certain note in oud, 1,3,4 will probably hit the spot if your looking for the full experience without the barn, try for 6.7.9
And if you like barn type oud go for 8 “shivers” lol

pretty happy with my purchase, it allowed me to experience the main notes in cultivated Chinese Agarwood and they are pretty affordable too. I would say his discriptions are pretty spot
