I'm curious why the term Ceylon is used for Sri Lankan products? I'm aware that SL was previously named this - but are oils and such named so to add more prestige/finesse to the name somehow? Similarly to how most fragrances will use the term 'ambre' instead of 'amber'

    Just wondering :)

    AbuTominaga Whats this Oud About?

I think it's just simply easier.
Ceylon or Ceylani, rather than "Sirilankan".
I think it's also more common because of the tea... you'd hear "Ceylon Tea"... I don't think I've ever heard "Sirilankan Tea" though...if ever.
