Musc Ketone I acquired to smell and to learn about synthetic Musk. Goddamit! After smelling it, esp in sandal, one can easily figure out how synthetic musk based perfumes and attars smell. Homogeneity, similarity, and sameness in those oils one would experience.

I had that same experience with synthetic ambergris, especially when it was mixed into a blend......
then the memory of all others that were similar came to mind.

Respected Curt, did you experience ambroxan or some other chemical? I have placed orders for ambroxan as well. Let's see.
Musc Ketone creates hell loudness and projection that are alien to pure musk grains.

Dear Rai, I don’t know if it is ambroxan. I have a 1/4 tola bottle of what was supposed to be genuine ambergris oil, but I knew that it wasn’t from the start, even though the seller insisted that it was. Anyhow, when I used it in a blend, it became even more obvious that it had synthetics.

Very true, aroma unveils everything. Have you ever come across synthetic musk attar?
I would love to read your comments about projection of the musk maceration you prepared on your own.

Are the musks by Ajmal, and Arabian Oud considered as attars? They seem to smell more than just synthetic musk, so I cannot confidently say that I have smelled pure synthetic musk.

As for my homemade macerations, I can’t achieve any decent projection.
A very interesting thing I experienced last week.

If musk tincture is blended in musk sandal maceration or only in sandal, the projection increases a lot. I presume, this is the way to enhance the projection of musk sandal maceration.
This is what I am talking about pure musk, not synthetic. Synthetic, be that Oud or musk, is not personal, but for pedestrians.

Of course, with the passage of time, this new observation will either be fortified or nullified.

when it comes to blending, understanding chemistry is very important, especially how bonds are formed between different molecules. Ultimately the bonding and breaking of bonds will determine how fast and far the scent travels.

What determines the projection of Musk in a maceration is the oil it is macerated in. My grandfather Allah bless his soul would tell me macerating Musk in Sandalwood, is like tieing an Arab Stallion to a donkey. Sandalwood does not project well, especially old sandalwood due to the molecular chain size. Very long chains, lots of polymers forming in old sandalwood.

Musk on its own, small amount fills the room, if rubbed on something the smell stays for months, after all it's purpose is to spread and project. Musk isn't the issue, it's the donkey that you tie it with.

I had that one a long time ago. A very strong blend with some oud making it expensive is what I heard..I didn't quite appreciate it but that's the way with fragrance I guess. I had someone smell the Tonkin and they remarked it reminded them of an old toilet cleaner smell they experienced when entering the lavatory. : /

Don't like that they call it Sunna Musk, but that's another topic.

I totally agree with you brother Fahad
I ordered it on their site ASQ a long time ago, and I too did not like, there is the smell of the oud which comes out but the musk is totally absent and in addition no outfit on the skin . :(
he should rather be called oud sunna

I find this most interesting regarding maceration. Is not Mysore sandalwood the preferred oil for indeed macerating different musk grains?
And if not sandalwood, what esteemed brother @ Al Shareef Oudh did your late father (may Allah bless him) use if not a humble donkey for maceration?

One general guideline is that a little rose goes a long way, use cautiously.
Ah...brother....had I spotted your wise words earlier, perhaps two months ago, I may have missed out on my own learning curve...:)
I have a Dimashq pure rose oil 10% ina 6ml bottle with 5% Siberian musk. I have thoughts...perhaps too much.
The rose is extremely bossy at the moment...but insha'Allah in time the musk will calm things down...or so my hope would be along these lines...:Roflmao:
But at this present moment...I can confirm your cautious observations regarding rose...:praying:
