It took me really long time. Chopping up the wood to smaller and thinner pieces and then I used a "spice mill" and made the wood smaller. But it needs so much patience because it must be done slowly so the wood doesn't get warm.
You need a Dheki or something similar.

I don't think enough people know about X-collection and its quality.
I really want to keep it to myself and buy every stock Al Hashimi have but that's against the spirit of Ouddict.
oud oils are great and I do really love them like you and I have an extensive list of oud oils I want to try like you.
so I understand it's hard to squeeze new genre into that list.

but X-collection is like a step-up from regular wood heating, oil wearing.
santal Y is just impeccable sublime sandalwood experience you can ever have and santal X is nothing like regular boring sandal oil.
though I haven't experienced Ceylon X and Pontianak X yet, I have no doubt that those are equally great like other X-collection I experienced.
you are missing out something huge in the oud scene if you haven't tried X-collection.

enlighten? haha, no I'm just sharing my thought. thank you by the way.
so, in my limited sandalwood oil experience, the regular, I mean except Santal X. sandalwood oils are pretty close to the skin and doesn't project a lot.
but on the other hand, I don't know how and why but Santal X just radiates its scent and makes fragrance bubble around me.
I don't know how to put it into words but I think I could say Santal X projects about 3 or 5 times better than other sandal oils I have.
I hope that helped you some degree.

You definitely helped!

Thank you! I have become more and more fascinated with the varying scent profiles of sandalwood this year and Hashimi has two available now (though no Santal X).

Budget permitting, I will continue to acquire other examples. Really trying to educate myself as well as discover which oils compliment or can be featured in my blends.

Thank you again.

Edit: For those of us without proper burners, what can you DO with Santal Y?
