Back in the basenotes days, rksons was a one of the vendors we were checking out. Some of their stuff was great, some just ok. They have Assam oud of two types, about $85-$90 per quarter tola. I contacted them and Amit is still running things and answering emails. They also have sandalwood for very reasonable prices and in the past their sandalwood has been decent. I’m tempted to get samples!

Have any of you sample materials from these guys recently?

I’m curious as well.
Wow! Hamit’s still at the helm:Thumbsup:

My last purchase was Premium Hindi oud 3 years ago, it took 2 months just to ship:eek:

The price... he’s selling at quite a reasonable price - 10ml sample for $20...

I know this seems “to good to be true” but from what I know of Amit, he will deliver. I recall the last batch smelled somewhat like the Indonesian oils I have experienced.

anyway, fingers crossed...

Wow - shipped already! All I have to say is if Amit can deliver the kind of sandalwood he has in the past at this price point... with even basic sandalwood being sold for well over $10/g (which is truly crazy I think)... well I will be overjoyed.

I was starting to resign myself to the recent spike in sandalwood prices, and just rationing the stuff that I already have so it can last the rest of my life!

I know this will not match small artisanal batches distilled from prime vintage wood, but if it delivers that sweet long lasting woody base, I will be ordering a jug!

I’ve said it before, but sandalwood (for me) has little or no value when priced like oud because this is an oil that really only performs well (to me) with more liberal application, even of the most pungent sandalwood oils. 1ml or even 2ml of sandalwood is kind of the equivalent of a 0.1 ml sample of oud in terms of how quickly I go through it... the co2 oils are a little different - for these a dab will do ya (although I have found a good swipe of co2 oils is needed to get long duration on skin)

One of my friends did a lot to find Mysore sandal, and he succeeded in almost six months. Majority of oils on the market are East Indian sandal. I myself reconfirmed to know about the reality.

I am really happy if one successfuly acquires Mysore sandal in that much less time.

My friend got the sandal duly assessed by the lab twice for GCMS. He bought when the report confirmed the purity and that's being 91.

I am very thankful to some distillers who shared that east Indian sandal is being sold, and most of the oils are not of heartwood but of shavings. At least, I found getting sandal is more difficult than getting Oud and rose. Strange thing is the price. Though difficult to acquire, but extremely low priced oil is sandal.

Hope and wish this new oil be up to the scratch. And we all benefit from Mr Hamit.

Ahh I hate FedEx. Scheduled for Friday 10 AM. Didn’t show up, no notifications in spite of signing up. FedEx apparently doesn’t deliver on weekends. I have had 100% late deliveries, broker fees, awful service from FedEx whenever ordering from overseas. DHL and even Amazon makes these guys look like amateurs.

Wow! That's frustrating! Hope it gets to you on Monday! Looking forward to your review!

I have some. Sold online under EOC , essential oil company
It is good for blending and maceration.
Price is cheap as I search for a bulk supply. hard to beat the price and artisanal suppliers want more then twice this amount for a kg.
If anyone has a different good contact for bulk(kg) sandalwood oil please let me know!!
