I make agarwood incense sticks too, this has been a recent venture, i gave many away to customers and had very good feedback.
The only issue is getting time to make them!
If anyone is interested i can make some time and create another batch, i just have a few sticks left from my previous one.

The agarwood sticks i have made are handrolled, i used a base of makko powder and agarwood, i use a small amount of agarwood oil to increase the potency along with powdered green hojari frankincense.
I have made some other unique sticks with buddha wood, agarwood, breuzinho, Indian sandalwood, white cedarwood and some of my attar.
I can make custom orders too.

If interested drop me a message and i will see what i can do.

outside of the niche market, you can find some of the most beautiful agar incense from Shoyeido. Their Infinity is expensive, $500 a box, but very worth it. It's agar, kayra, and spices. Their Infinity is almost 100% kyara, with some small amounts of spices that bring out those notes from the kayra. The downsize? It's $750 a box at japanincense.com in San Francisco. I don't regret buying both boxes, but there has to be a cheaper karya out there. (Kayra is a special, aged, sun-baked version of agarwood.)

you should do a little more research on kyara (note that the “y” comes after the “k”

try www.kyarazen.com and read their papers on kyara to start. It is not quite what you think it is (sunbaked) but it is great that you know the scent and have located one of the best presentations of the kyara scent I have encountered in a stick (shoyeido translucent path and related high end sticks like myoho).

I heard its very herbal heavy. Is it really so or the green Kyara takes the centerstage?
I read that it is black kyara, but either way, the kyara/agarwood note is not centerstage, more like side by side with the other aromatics. I am always on the fence to get a full box, but that salty/dusty aspect always deters me....otherwise.....awesome stick!
