Here some lovely oud interview for a read:
http://www.basenotes.net/features/3609-conversations-with-the-artisan-amp-colon-ensar-of-ensar-oud

maybe @RisingPhoenix can do also interview with basenotes and introduce ouddict.com also to point out that not every other sellers are:

<<<<<selling glow-in-the-dark orange juices with the ‘Oudh’ label.>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<<<Every new guy on the market is just another clone of Ensar Oud.>>>>>>

Also to let the basenotes members that there is other reputable oud sellers on the oud market.
oh and talking about copycatting? more than half of the old legends reviews are copy and paste from a personal reviews from the old basenotes forum with out even asking the person.
now here is something funny:
<<<<<I talk about sandalwood and, lo and behold, most oud sellers now also offer some kind of ‘Mysore’. >>>>>>>

most of the old basenotes oud forum members remember that after few weeks of very heated discussions about sandalwood on the old basenotes oud forum, than a month later kaboom Ensar oud starting to sell sandalwood. what a surprise...…:D
talking about copycatting.:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

basically this is not a news even I post in the OudNews section.
same old, same old narcissistic rage against others who sell oud.

I have I have a hard time twisting out your English into what you are trying to say but it seems like a slam on Ensar Oud. I would think that at this point this forum has already been there, done that. Besides, it seems you are saying that Ensar read about sandalwood on Basenotes and then in less than a month sourced wood, distilled it and then had it ready for sale. Really?

Actually - he called me (we used to Chat a fair amount) and asked me if Sandalwood sales were good, as I had started distilling and offering artisan Sandal oils as well as a few vintage oils.

Not 3 weeks later he was selling "a vintage tin" of Sandalwood he picked up on his China trip that he was on when we chatted. He bought the day after our chat I believe.

So yes...I was the one who started selling the Mysore oils that he coattailed on. Started right after we had a chat about it. He started with the vintages, as did I, before moving on distilling my own. Others have followed suite, as well.

I don't think any of us are copying one another. I think that is a poor way to look at it. Rather - I look at each of us in the same manner that artists and musicians look to one another for inspiration. We continue to challenge one another to do better and broaden our own horizons. We are each better because of one another.

But if that's the language he wants to use...then I was pioneering both the vintage and artisan Sandal oils and, well - you can fill in the blanks from there ;)

@peter4ptv - if you'd like to see me try and talk up Ouddict on BN - maybe look into contacting Claire and see if she's game to write up an article. Will mean more coming from you folks than from me:

Here is her website. Her contact info can be found there.

Everyone has different points of view. Let’s respect them. @peter4ptv has every right to question the actions of this vendor and you have the right to reply.

I don't see it as a slam. I see it as calling out EO BS. I read that interview on Basenotes and was just amazed. Saying that all other oud vendors copied him and haven't done anything original. Also saying they copied him by selling sandalwood and musk blends. I'm sorry but that is utter BS that unfortunately some people buy into and hurts other vendors. It shouldn't just be ignored.

Where is your proof that other people buy into it? Where is your proof that he has hurt other vendors? Oh, that’s right, you have none. You only have your opinion, which is valid, but that doesn’t make an argument. I could care less about what stupid things people say, I care about what actions they take. But that being said, that’s just my opinion!

I’ve only got one thing to say about that.

Oudimentary. Real pioneers and refreshingly humble.

Problem is that most of us here and most of the previous “fans” on his forum Gaharu also have the same opinion. Of course, it’s ad populum and not proof per se, but where there is smoke... anyway, all this was laid to rest a while back and we have all the proof we need, but it’s not public knowledge and no, we won’t relsase it as we don’t want to flog a dead horse - those who need to know, know, so let’s move on and enjoy the Oud. Anymore on this matter and the thread will be cleansed. Thanks!
