I see a marketplace with new vendors supplying lower priced oils compared to others and then I ask, why do some still maintain that oils are way overpriced? ONE of the viable/possible conclusions that I came to was my statement you quoted above. A reason why some focus on oils they think are overpriced when there are alternatives.

Maybe they just want to owe and enjoy these precious gems which is their right. Maybe they don’t want these pricy ultra luxury oils to be as the same price as the daily wearing oils, rather than a price range of $1000-1500 for example instead of $2500 assuming it’s possible. There is huge difference between the two prices although it’s still in +$1000 range which also considers high but the buyer maybe willing to pay happily within this range; example Kinam Rouge which I’ve never seen any mention anywhere to be overpriced.

Just a thought…

Iam thinking this pricey oils was always here...just we dont know of them because it was reserve for prince/king and ultra rich people...internet just show this oils to the crown.

For me buying an expensive oil is simply a question of priority.

Iam in the watch business and I remember a client told me...wathever I drive a $500 car...I drive it with my $10000 Rolex on the wrist.

Let's be serious Do you really think a prince will pay $2500 his 3g bottle even if he can easily afford it?
Why the queen bought her tigerwood Royale directly from the distiller? I am not complaining about tigerwood Royale price but only a question...

Iam not thinking...its a fact prince/king and ultra rich people pay even more for perfum...you are just not aware.

I give you a track...look at Henry Jacques on internet ;)

Made the account with me. If you earn 2000/3000 a month and you buy a 500 oud. why a person who wins 10,000/15,000 a month not be able to buy a 2500 oud?

And Iam talking here of line pilot or surgeon...so what if we talk about unlimited budget of prince/king/rich.

@jalil I do not know any prince or princess posting here in Ouddict...
Would be interesting to know the percentage who buy from the well known oud "artisans"
Oud made for Al Nahayan Al Saud Al Maktoum etc...one more marketing argument that's it!

I like how there are more trustworthy sellers of pure oud within the last few years, plus there are sale items and discounts to help our buying power. If these discounts happen more often that would help.
My problem is that my preferences in oil often change. So even if there is a very good price on an oil, but if it's not the type I'm into at the moment, then it does me no good, or I might pass-up a good deal, later to find that I should have purchased it.
Oud compared to other perfumes is relatively more expensive. When I tell my co-workers how much I paid, they think I'm crazy. So yes, I think oud is expensive, and if you are a connoisseur of oud, you have expensive taste:) So if I indulge in this precious stuff, I try not to bathe in it. I treat it with respect, and use it wisely, because it cost a lot$$

interesting point...using prince name (in oud) or star name (in perfum) is for me a poor marketing argument.

Its like...yes this oud is good because this princess/prince bought it.

but Iam like @firdaous...I personaly dont know them...who can tell me she/he has a good taste!

Iam more in confidence with my men @Ammar or @Habz786 and many others (not @F4R1d0uX :D) who Iam SHURE they have good taste.

@Oudamberlove ask your co-workers about their passion...some woman put more on shoes and bags then we put on oud.

Like I said...its just a question of priority.

Some of my mid-class customer never go on vacation just to own luxury watches...all is priority.

Yes I agree my friend !
I really use oud as a luxury treat I give to myself.

And what a treat !

I do my best to avoid ending up oud bulimic and become easily bored with some oils profile.

But it's a real exercice to do so ...

If we strip the assumptions away, at the end of the day the power sits with the consumer, the only prerequisite is to educate yourself before a purchase, and that is something we should do with all purchases.

Public scrutiny is always welcomed, it keeps everyone in check and even though these type of discussions are unstructured, there is a common themed feedback that every vendor should take note of.

There is also a side of this equation that the consumer has to uphold, I have said this before and will say it again, why is it that the consumer (including some of those who are complaining about the price) run towards the most expensive offerings but show no or little interest to those products that are not as expensive.

Is it that the consumer feels by purchasing a high price item they get more fulfilment, especially if they get that high price item at a discount?

Does high price give a sense of prestige?

Do consumers think high price equates high quality?

Or simply why are high priced oudhs so attractive?

at the local store we know what we can and cant afford, do we go to the store owner and run similar discussions as to why he has these high price items?

I am really trying to understand all the commentaries, so that at least for our business, if they apply we can consider them.

Thats true! It certainly is about the priority of how we channel our money. My co-worker just bought a new BMW, I asked him, "so you traded your other BMW for this one?" He said, no, " I have 2 now". Gee, that one car costs more than all my Oud, Musk, Ambergris, Sandalwood, chips, etc.

Of course high price oud are better than the cheapest...in the trusted sellers offer at least.

Your al shareef 2 is better than khulood...its a fact...its "normal" when you look the price range.

But is khulood a bad oil because of its cheapest price...not at all...I personaly love it.

But boy oh boy!!! ASII is from an other world!

If there is a high price oud I cant afford a full bottle like sultan Ahmet or AS ghaliyah for exemple...I bought a sample and swipe this oud very rarely.

You get it!

One of my customer drive a $500 car with a $10000 Rolex watch on the wrist...his priority is the watches, he dont care about cars.

But, it's a privilege not a right and it's not incumbent upon the vendor to provide $2500 oils for $1000-1500 to appease ones buying sensibilities, especially when they offer oils in a much lower price range.

You are right. It is just a thought brought as a substitute to your universal conclusion that the buyers being whiny about these expensive oils and want to be priced as same as daily wearing oud, both have the same value of conclusion.

One point that it seems that I'm missing and lost during the discussion, why this point brought aggressively and suddenly? As I'm aware of, there is but not that much reluctance to the price of these ultras luxurious oils, let's say a small percentage of buyers concern about them, while most of the people here I don't think they even care about them although they know the concept behind them IMO. I don't get it.

Just to clarify, I think that all oud is expensive. $50/3ml and up.
But it is still very worthwhile to buy it if you can appreciate it. It's precious on many levels.
Now, the argument about what type to get and what price level is very dynamic. The best bet is to ouducate in the forums, do some sampling, train your nose, then make a decision. The difference in the prices and levels of quality are dependent on your knowledgeable decision capability. Most vendors have a wide range to suit everyones need, I'm certainly glad for that.

@Al Shareef Oudh you're right at the end of day the consumer makes his own choice but should I tell you once again that Ceen is slightly better than Fragrant Harbour but the price between the 2 is not justified...
And I am happy with my FH full bottle and 0.70g v-vial of Ceen(thanks to a nice ouddict friend) :)
