How can we save Oud?

This is a really a interesting yet puzzling topic. How can we as Ouddict's save Oud? Are there any actual ways to do this? Are we part of the problem? Stop buying wild Oud? Focus on plantations? Trees will be chopped regardless due to demand so why stop buying? These are some of the thoughts that run through my mindi, however as a community how do we feel about saving Oud as the end is nearing day by day.

With more respect to all members even all stop buying will not effect anything because Oud now not like before little community use it now all know about Oud and all perfumes company's factory's markets also some use for medicine buy ouds with huge liters and many customers from Asia or middle east will pay a lot for high grades wood

All wild threes are harvested for incense chips and they do oils with what cant be sold as incense.

Its like saying I stop wearing leather jacket and continue to eat meat.

Ok maybe we cant stop the end of Oud but maybe we can help slow it down? Or is there nothing that can be done?

I tasted some homegrown indian oil recently, trees not wounded, not drilles, not injected.

I can say now India is ready.

I heard same thing from Laos mostly like wild (expensive but good).

What I'm Personaly about to do is focusing on thoses locations...

I think that other countries will follow, India was first country almost naked from wild so they get expérience...

They still have wild but is limited access , most of indian wood flooding market in gulf & also the oils are from plantations they have very old plantations trees and the wood&oud yes smell amazing even plant!

Yes wild is stuck by few people for ME hub few have access to wild ...

But yes such good oils, I put one yesterday it was very barn but such apetazing at the same time I was hungry like last hour before iftar during ramadan, never experienced that feeling with oud

I mean wild by its definition of zero human intervention will undoubtly come to an end, however clean plantations with no chemicals or nails etc arent far off being wild. However only people who have genuine love for Oud will go down this route as opposed to just seeing $$$ and doing what it takes to produce oil.

There is certain point needs to be clarified and always vague to me. Are the fully-resinated grandmother and mother wild agarwood trees about to extinct or the agarwood species in general? If it is the former then real extinction is not a problem and there is always possibility to revive resin producing wild trees from what's left of daughter trees which in turn can become mother tree and reproduce further minidaughter trees and the life cycle continue in the far future for the future generations to enjoy wether resin or non-resin producing if the awareness raised from now in the current generation mainly by preventing this mass nontargeted haunting. If it is about the agarwood species then it's real extinction.

It seems that we are talking mainly about the extinction of wild oud oil and incense grade wood LOL!

Any thoughts?...

@Ammar Agarwood in all its forms is a billion dollar industry and there is huge investment in its future, look through the Oud News section to see just some of the education and preservation going on. The agarwood species are pretty safe because of this but wild is depleting fast. Have a look on Gaharu.com to read about Taha's difficulties in finding wild wood now.

Just have to hope that no diseases come along that have an adverse effect on agarwood trees in general, like they've done with ash and elm trees here in the UK.

What I understood from Taha posts is that the team was unable to find grandmother and mother trees but there was no problem in finding daughter trees.
