Decided to put this review here in the Musk forums.
I have recently begun a trail which has brought me down this maceration of musk business. I have purchased quite a few year old musk macerations and even recently began to gather in some ingredients for to make my own scent of Jannah....Musk in its rawest scent is completely new to me...as I would imagine it is to many out there...I have been very fortunate to strike up an excellent relationship with a wonderful brother over in London, from whom I have bought some wonderful year old macerations of all sorts....I was immediately drawn in and began acquiring the ingredients I needed to begin learning on my own.... Some of my early experiments I have already posted about....however I noticed that my dear brother @Al Shareef Oudh has a Musk on his site for sale. I decided a few weeks back to purchase a bottle from him, with the intention of expanding my own understanding..
@Al Shareef Oudh had introduced a 20% discount at the time, which meant I got a very good entry for my benchmark.....

The package arrived eight days after been shipped and I got it on the 23rd of December.....This is not my first time purchasing from @Al Shareef Oudh so it arrived very well packaged from Perth....I was intrigued by the description on the wed site containing the following..."At first scent of this olfactory beast you will be hit by the sheer projection ability of musk. many people will tell you that when smelling a musk pod you will experience a sensation similar to a nose bleed – and that is exactly the ommph that you will feel here. Then comes the animalic warmth, not like the animal hide or barn, but like hugging fur. Then lovely apple and pear peel, together with a zesty , not full citrus but peels, rose wood like scent (not rose). Followed by the beautiful buttery honey goodness that mysore is famous for, add a touch of spice in memory of her hay days. This isn’t any mysore oil this is the crème de crème from the Government Soap Factory."

I was quite astounded to find that the above description is actually extremely accurate...alhamdulellah. My nose was confused by this as most of my macerations are beautifully musk scented, to be expected....But this really is a different level. I am smelling this from the bottle for now as I am enamored by this little bottle and wish not to use it for now...I believe it is my new benchmark in my own experimentation on this journey... The description above, I can confirm as accurate and truthful and I as I am not poetic by nature I have to say, there is very little I can add to it, I really do get all those fruit scents....and for one who can not really pick notes out of Oudhs, that is saying something....I have @Al Shareef Oudh a musk of sublime beauty to the olfactory senses....
I know there are many out there on Ouddicts that enjoy musk and the maceration process, so I would certainly suggest you consider this creation.
Now that said...I want to also state that I endorse nobody nor indeed do I suggest actions that any person can not afford.....But purely from a benchmark point of view, this gem is worth considering..

MashaAllah you have touched on some very important issues. In summary i would just like to add, musk at the end of the day comes down to two things, the beast and how it is prepared, each is as important as the other. I have seen many people take the path that they will grab some musk and some oil, put the two together and wait for sometime, and they have been made to believe that will do the trick. What that would do is most likely waste two very good ingredients.

And here I was going to buy musk for precisely this...

What even is perfumery?!

Yes do.
I have been inching slowly down this road and have already gained in my knowledge and experience. Information as with all thing in life needs to be deciminated.
I have some that are developing quite nicely. @Al Shareef Oudh and this beautiful bottle of musk has done, is made me think differently about my process.
But it has not prevented me in anyway from pursuing my enjoyment of this art. Quite the opposite...I have now raised my bar substantially thanks to @Al Shareef Oudh
This site has wonderful gems if knowledge to be found... alhamdulallah....

If you wanted to do that please do not take my post as a warning from purchasing your own musk and pursuing that interest. However be cautious on where you get your information from regarding it's handling and preparation.

Which is why this forum is such an invaluable resource. The art of perfumery becomes a little less opaque, especially when artists like yourself are so generous with their experiences and knowledge. So thank you for the advice! It is more than appreciated by utter noobs that lurk around here, as myself. Perfumery, as an art, is in many ways an art of the future.

Hope everyone also has a wonderful new years!

I ordered mine after reading brother @DubOudh's feedback. I love Musk. I received my order today. Super quick DHL.
I read the details before ordering but I am stunned by the generosity of the Musk grains in person. I have not had a maceration so highly concentrated with grains. I simply thought it would not be able to dilute with such high concentration.
This smells very simple and pleasant. Very rightly described by brother @Al Shareef Oudh, the Musk is like hugging fur. I have a take on this, not mentioned by others. I am stunned by the Sandalwood oil. The Sandalwood oil here is really Creme de la Creme. I could macerated such generous amount of grains myself in a good sandalwood oil that I have.
What I could not do is to acquire the particular Sandalwood oil. And I honestly ordered this for the Sandalwood. Fantastic!

I found the musk to be subtle and not the nose bleeding oomph. May be my desire for the musk is much higher.

This is simply Musk and Sandalwood. What makes it special - The amount of Musk grains and the Creme de la Creme Sandalwood oil.

Thank you @DubOudh @Al Shareef Oudh

I found the musk quite subtle at first too, but I think thats just because of how complex the ingredient is and the inability of our brain to completely comprehend it at first encounter. After sniffing this occasionally for a few months the scent is growing stronger and stronger, so hopefully will be the same for you إن شاء الله !

Inshaa Allah, I will be glad if it develops like that for me. Thanks for sharing.

Hello all, Eid Mubarak.

I'm considering purchasing Al Shareef's Hekayat as my Eid gift to myself. I love musk, have tried macerating my own grains in sandalwood oil (so far so good, but I'm just a beginner). I want something that is "next level" to really experience musk. I missed Areej's pure musk grain perfume offering so was considering Hekayat.

Are there any other musk-focused attars/fragrances others might recommend so that I might have a bit of choice in the matter? Or should I get Hekayat and establish a benchmark?

Thanks,

Habibi.

Hekayat would be a good start brother. It's just musk in beautiful sandalwood maceration. You can use it as a base to layer oud or other oils.
