Fully agreed..

His old work was old school and amazing before he started to try his hand at other things...

Suddenly all his blends started feeling the same to me.... I wish we get to see the Old Zak soon

Suvanda Forest from Oudbase
All I can say is get some if you can!
I’m blown away by my latest order from Oudbase. I judge vendors by the hit or miss standard.
Oudbase is selling high grade oils at way to cheap! I don’t need others to tell me what’s good and when I read a load of bullshit from a vendor and they send shit oil I call it shit, don’t care if the vendor says otherwise.
If you miss out on this suvanda forest it will be your loss , I made my order so no fear of missing out.
This oil is incredible!
All hit no miss from Oudbase

Habzoud sugar - unique for sure - has this somewhat clean spice to it. With floral sweetness I guess a yellow gold tone with tobacco for sweetness. Rounded and full bodies but "clear" not muddy or dark

Greenness with bitter in middle. Maybe some pettigrain? Someone previously said maple syrup and that's honestly the first thing that came to mind when I smelled it but I thought it must be wrong. It's funny - whenever I'm thinking of how to describe an Oud, the first thing I associate with it I usually convince myself I'm wrong - or I'm searching for the right word so it must be a stretch. But it usually ends up being correct after a few more sniffs. Initially I thought cambodi - but a clean one like muhib. But the spiceiness throws if off. Then you get this citrus zesty thing going on, so I really got confused. Whenever I really have no idea, a good shot in the dark is Indonesian lol. It's such a big place with so many different profiles. Kelatan alone probably could give 100 different profiles.

This one is an interesting specimin though. I get some aspects of Chinese oils with the golden hues of honey and floral. Walla hues with the maple and candy sweetness. Greenness like a Papua oil. Basically just a cool oil with lots of different tones and fun to swipe!

Did a comparison earlier of some wallas -

Habzoud fahad vs Sri pada

Interesting and totally different. Fahad goes that vanillic creamy ambery, dries down to smooth dry woodiness - almost like a malinau oil. Has aged even over last few months so nicely.

Sri pada on the other hand goes the space candy route - with a trat pink jolly rancher opening. So cool this opening. Nothing like it - this then dries into that cool rainbow blue green sweetness - ocean jungle vibe.

Ultimately in the end, these arrive at a similar Walla dry down. With the Fahad going woody, and the Sri pada going sweet.

Wallas might be my favorite oil in sheer aromatic profile - there's really no better smell in my mind. That said, I feel like it's not what I reach for most often because they don't pack the same kinda punch and sillage as malays or Indonesian oils for example. Where wallas I see as gorgeously leaning feminine, and I could sniff my arms all day - I think there is something more masculine and hearty with green oils (see mustaqbil, or gyrinops 0) or darker oils (see Nasir, or tigerwood Royale). Just my late night musings....
