I think most shops don’t have much wild wood in Vietnam. At least not that they show. Doesn’t mean it’s not there, though. Seems the material that does still come out of the jungles usually doesn’t make it to the shops.

can definitely be found outside of Vietnam, at ever increasing prices

The best old stuff is usually in the hands of collectors ... and it’s hard to get them to loosen their grip :Roflmao: Here’s an example of some that I can’t get that fist to let go of for me just yet ...

2 regions I've never even seen offered as wild sinking grade are Indian and Thai oud - I see lots of cultivated ones though!

Well ... there’s a reason :Roflmao:

Thailand they’ve been picking over for centuries. Not much coming out of their jungles due to over harvesting.

India still has a fair amount of wild wood, but due to the unique government / Gulf Company control - most of the good stuff ends up with brokers and goes directly to the big companies. Not much of it trickles down to us.

And when it doooooes ... I get offered lots every so often - but generally gotta buy 1 or 3 or 5kg at a time - and the price ain’t cheap. Some of the woods I’ve seen would buy a house most places in the world. Or a whole village :Roflmao:

What I DO have ... is a nice photo of fresh Pita from the new shawarma place that opened 2 weeks ago that I mentioned. Just swung by. It was hyuuuuuuge!

I do have a few wild Hindi lots on hand. I get some photos for ya soon.

I have a little bit of wild Thai, as well. Doesn’t look impressive - but the scent on an electric is :raisedhands:

Working on getting some more. Part of the challenge is when it DOES pop up - it’s usually sold by the time I even get the message from my resources  I literally just missed some the other day that kinda got my panties in a bunch

The good news, is .... LOTS of other unique stuff I’ve got here on hand.

Spent part of my afternoon working on this ...

Such a beauty
bro show me some wild hindis, i need to have cure for my eyes haha

We all dream of plantation wood catching up to wild stock. This is one of two batches I’ve got on hand of some drilled Hindi that is almost solid resin. Single tree, old old plantation. Smells like a fantastic cup of English Breakfast, leathery and tea-like - with hints of dark berries. Spectacular stuff.

I’ll try to snap some shots of the wild materials that I have on hand tomorrow.

Honestly - this batch and the other like it from the same old plantation is a fantastic value. Black, resin dense, and incredibly aromatic at room temp.

Smells like tarakan based on proximity? Just a guess?

This looks similar to the sinking tarakan from Dr i too. Curious what the per gram price might be?
