Aroha kyaku smells exactly like burning Oud. I have the 2011 and 2014 batch - I believe. I may be incorrect about the dates but they both have that burning Oud, smoky incense note. Ensar currently has it on for sale but I haven’t smelt the latest batch.
I’ve smelled a few ouds with that smokey note, but not these particular oils. Always made me a little uncertain about the history of the oud as I have wondered how a smokey smell gets into a steam distilled oil at all. Does this mean that some of the wood was charred on the bottom of the pot or something? Do you all think that somehow the plant itself intrinsically mimics the scent of burning wood and this gets concentrated on distillation?
The Aroha Kush sample I got has that smoky note like oud wood being heated on charcoal.
I haven't had experience with RBO - but I've always been intimidated by Bengal and Indian Ouds - not there yet as part of my journey. I know they can be on the more daring side. I only have one Indian oud which has a sweet Hay like aroma. Its a journey of patience while aiming to maintain a level of financial resilience.RBO's smokey oud is by and far the smokiest of all the ouds I've ever smelled. I don't particularly enjoy it though....

How much was it?same, I bought 1g and sold it, it was described as "not very smokey" but it had this smokey plastic scent (it was Sri Lankan)
Saying that, I've not really liked any smokey ouds

I can see how some smokey Ouds can be compared to burnt ashtrays or burnt coal.I ultimately ended up with that oil and quickly sold it, it was like an ashtray
