I’m glad to try them, all very well done,

Today I revisited Tokusen Kobunboku by Baieido.
it's been a while since I burn this one. I find this incense has a steep learning curve. Tokusen kobunboku keeps surprised me every time I revisit every once in a while.
cleansing quality of borneol camphor and clove and profound sweet agarwood brings calm to my mind.
it's a bit acrid while burning but the lingering smell of sweet agarwood and sandalwood is excellent.

traditional, yet elegant. a classic masterpiece indeed.

Went with the Tokusen Kobunboku today, after reading your post.
Yes! There is a sweetness, that I did not focus on the last time I lit this stick. There is also a spring blossom element. Nice mellow stick, and as with most Baieidos, steep learning curves.

Shunkohdo Kyara Seikan

This stick reminds me of Wu Shuang Ge’s Hainan
in that it has a slight brain kick.
Bitterness and wood, just a sprinkle of combusted kyara with other ingredients used conservatively.
One of my favorite sticks.

Jinko Horyu Koh by Baieido

The mix of Vietnamese agarwood and traditional herbs in Jinko Horyu Koh(沈香鳳龍香) gives off mellow warmth. suitable for cold weather like today.

though Jinkoh is the main protagonist of this incense, smooth blending with other ingredients makes this smells like one note.

The medicinal quality of this incense calms your nerves. very relaxing and soothing.
'grounding' is the perfect word for describing this incense.

It certainly has a Borneo vibe.

Powerful aroma that lingers in the air,
it almost captures the chip on a heater effect,
subitism portability :D

Strong herb/spice hit,
it’s always nice to light at least a little bit
of this type everyday.

Seijudo Kyara Enju.

A lot of green oil kyara note,
but compared to heating an actual
green oil kyara chip, the chip wins!!!
Nice stick though:Thumbsup:
 
IO Walla Patta sticks

Aptly named, because when I light these sticks
I get Walla Patta!
I totally get the description at the IO website...
“Taking dust from sinking woods, and various incense grade material these hand crafted sticks are beautiful.”

Not heavy on binder, the top notes come through just fine. I used to think these sticks were a bargain,
but considering the prices of artisan sticks lately,
these sticks are a steal:confused:

Most 'wet' incense I've ever encounter. very unique among Japanese Incense. maybe in the whole incense world.
it reminds me of sweet, watery watermelon. very interesting... how can burning incense emit watery fragrance? which ingredient does this?
Oud in this is obviously Vietnamese but I can't discern other ingredients. very interesting...

It could be earth oil ? In India they distill dirt with sandalwood which smells like earth after first rain

A latecomer into my collection,
but oh so worthy.

Gentle art... bitter and sweet
sandalwood and agarwood
with a touch of resin and spice.
 
KC Papua New Guinea stick

I’m slowly trying to wrap my head around this stick.
But overall, I’m getting a dry resin sweetness that’s like a perfume almost, a tiny bit of mineral note, incensy like incense notes in some ouds, and agarwoodiness.

This stick has got a nice agarwood kick:handfist::handfist:
The burn rate is a little faster than I prefer
and my use rate as well, I burn it everyday,
if I don’t put on the brakes I may run out
sooner than expected.
It’s just a tad sweet, but oudiness is it’s main note.
