Rules

Ouddict members will have the chance to shortlist Oud oils from Ouddict Resident Artisans only that have been on sale at any time in 2019. The format is as follows:

1. There will be two categories. Wild and Organic. An Oud of the Year will be voted separately for each category in parallel.

2. The search for the Oud of the Year starts with a nomination by members, a 1st Round poll and Final Round poll. Nominations start on the 12th December and remain open until the 19th December.

3. A member may only vote if they have bought the Oud or sampled it. We will be making checks to enforce this.

4. A maximum of up to 5 Ouds for each category can be nominated for inclusion by members for inclusion in the first round poll. You do not have to nominate 5 Oud oils per category, but you cannot nominate more than 5 per category. This is to keep the exercise manageable and prevent “spamming”.

5. The 1st Round Poll will be created from the nominated list of Ouds and members can vote on the 1st Round from the 19th to the 25th December.

6. A Final Round will be created from the 1st Round results and a vote held from the 25th December to the 1st January.

7. The Oud of the Year will be announced on 2nd January, 2020.

8. Any member who does not follow these rules will be barred from any further involvement in the Oud of the Year 2019 vote. No exceptions. No excuses.

Note for Vendors and Vendor Associates
1. You can take part in the Oud of the Year
2. You cannot nominate your own products.

Hmmmm I've had a torrid year tbh. Haven't been around or involved a much as I should have been with Oud. But I do recall some amazing Ouds from the OudFest 2019 and some I have come across from OudBase so here goes...

Wild
OudBase - Khao Yai Signature 2004
- wow, wow ,wow... this oil takes you back to prehistoric times when pristine wood was available and magnificent oils could be created. Literally a living legend and my comments about Imperial Oud's Nha Trang Ultima apply to this oil too. Simply a breath-taking accomplishment by a new vendor who has been around oud for a long time.

Rising Phoenix Perfumery - Bija - Hainan 1999 - no introduction needed. JK has his hand in many unique and wonderful aromatics from the East and will no doubt continue to pull rabbits out of his hat. This oud is a wonderful throwback to the golden era of oud circa 1980-2010.

Imperial Oud - Nha Trang Ultima. Now this is a family friendly forum so I can't use expletives, but WHAT A BANGING OIL. Imperial Oud continue to show why they are one of the pre-eminent vendors on the market with this stupendous oil that harks back to 2007 when I first encountered amazing artisanal oils that are now considered legendary. Well Imperial Oud have performed a minor miracle here and brought that calibre of oil back from"extinction".

HabzOud - Rainbow - not sure about the name, but stupidly amazing scent. I did not expect the wonderful aroma that emanated from the bottle that Habib showed me a few days ago when I visited the HabzOud HQ. A delightful masterpiece of an oil at a ridiculously low price -a genuine gift to customers.

La Maison Khenata - Grynops - amazing oil from a fabulous vendor from France. Farid is vastly underrated and has expert level knowledge of all things oud, but the best thing is that he is willing to share his knowledge and very approachable. Initially a member on Ouddict and now a vendor, hes a credit to this community and with oils like this, may he continue for a long time.

Organic
OudBase - Zenensis
- at the price, I don't think you can get better. Over 3x cheaper than one sold by a rival vendor, but the same oil. OudBase have really put their marker down in releasing this oil. Simply amazing, smooth and sophisticated.

Keep your nominations coming in guys... I do recall last year, some people approached me AFTER the vote finished and complained that they had not been aware of it. Its is probably because they normally just go onto their favourite thread and the leave thereafter. I will send a circular email around to notify everyone.
