Tyson - if was to distill frankincense in the copper still shown above... I wonder where to place the resin? There is an extended neck between the bulb at the top and the kettle at the bottom. That neck has a screen so that plant material can be placed above the water in the steam path. Or it can be removed and the plant material just mixed in with the water.

any tips?

How finely do you grind the resin prior to distillation?

dont even bother trying to put the resin in the steam chamber your just giong to melt the resin and its giong to coat the screen and gum up everything . you can either soak the frank in water first for a day and stir before heating or heat everything up and then add the frank but with your system being enclosed i dont think you can do that . So soak the frank in water for a day or so and then thats the water your using in your system , water /frank mix .
This will make a stronger frank than just adding it once the system is hot which is what i do as thats my preferance , i dont go for yeild and cut it off as soon as the scent becomes undesirable

Remove the biomater chamber totally otherwise you get internal cycling. The main thing you wanna keep an eye on is the temperature variance in your cooling tank from the top of the tank to the bottom. Keep a steady temperature drop from top to bottom of there is a sudden drop you can get some blockage issues with that system and spitting.

Frankincense is an interesting resin to distill do play with the temperature if you want to capture the depth and variance of the resin.

Finally try to have a sizeable separator 500ml or more because you could be surprised at how many litres the goose neck can pass in an hour.

Getting some fragrant firewood delivered. Half a cord of atlas cedar! I’ve had chips of this and the essential oil (which can be fantastic in its own way) but I never thought I’d literally be using it as firewood! Probably not a lot of BTU’s but I have some hardwood as well.

Sounds too good to be true.

Well, define sinking grade.........

If you carve enough white wood from a plantation chip, you can arrive at a sinking portion. Now that will be a far cry from a sinking king grade.

Nonetheless, I am curious, so why not:Cooler:

Yes
EO website under Organic Oud

I tried a sample of Taigo Senkoh and liked it.
I hope this new Yaqoub will be as good.

The sinking agarwood used is not anything near to a king grade sinker, but then again, if you had an oil made from king grade sinkers, it would cost a whole lot more.

Tell us about the samples from ulugbek! Any particular sandalwood oil stand out? So nice to see some of these new sources coming up with so many new things to smell, and not priced absurdly high...
