I wish I liked ruh khus. Always smells like asparagus to me...
Well, the Ruh Khus I received from a certain vendor is not that bad if I super dilute it. Really micro amount with lots of ethanol. Then it smells kind of refreshing, reminding me of some soaps, shampoos with green refreshing vibe + roots. But it is vetiver after all, so rooty notes are to be expected. In a normal concentration though, as it is in the bottle, as an oil, it’s.... well... it reminds me of an old cold cellar in a farming building where my family used to store vegetables and fruits. Very strong, overwhelming scent, rooty, musty, old stuff, but also hmm... salty/metallic. Natural, but... it’s too much for me. I think it’s just how it is with green Ruh Khus. I will leave it to age, and maybe in some future it will become more rounded and mellow.
Indonesian Vetiver from RBO on the other hand reminds me some vetiver notes from Tom Ford Gray Vetiver + other stuff. It opens with somewhat nutty notes but also fruity, citrusy, more sweet, kind of sunshine vibe. Much lighter. While Ruh Khus was dark cold basement in a dark woods. RBO Indonesian Vetiver seems more complex to my nose too. Quite like a perfume on it’s own.
