Hello Friends,
Ensar has released a 2016 distillation of Borneo 3000. Has anyone tried this oil yet? I would love to hear any thoughts. Thanks.

Hey there I have its great I really like it. Vanilla sweetness combined with ethereal cinnamon spice and slight woody dry down. Has good sillage and long lasting, lasted roughly 12 hours on my wrist.

Thank you so much for your reply asifkafridi3. Do you know how this distillation of Borneo 3000 compares to the original Borneo 3000?

Yes he is the same person. I do have a sample of the 1st batch. I am very tempted to purchase this one!

Yeah I recommend it. I am lucky to have the current Borneo 3000 and Malinau Extreme by Feel Oud. They are like siblings, extremely similar. I don't regret getting either one.

If you like the older sample then I would say go for it. Get the 2.5 grams and save 100 bucks. It will last you a long time I'm sure.

I remember Ensar telling me to buy in the last of the remaining original Borneo 3000s as they were made of fully sinking grade wood. When he released the Borneo 3000 second batch around 2011, I asked him about it and he said it was not of the same quality- I bought a bottle and I can confirm it wasn’t and I sold it in 2012. The last bottles of the original Borneo 3000 sold for $5999 on the Oriscent website. So whatever this new oil is, I doubt it’s of the same calibre, but probably close enough to enjoy at what is a very good price.

Fast forward to 2016 and rumours were going round of an oil that was very similar to the Borneo 3000 and I recall Ensar quite forcefully rejecting any such claim and saying this was not possible. Well curiosity got the better of me and I got hold of a batch which ended up as the Amira from Al Hashimi (now sold out). That oil was the closest to the original I’ve smelled, but more like the second batch of the Borneo 3000 (from my memory). It will be interesting to compare the current version with the original Borneo 3000 for sure and I might give people a chance to do so next week as I have unopened and unoxidised bottles from which to decant.

Thank you so much for your insight. I have a sample of the original 3000 which I love. Would you please allow me to purchase a decant from you? I would love to try it!

Curious if anyone who has access to both the original and the current reboot have been able to compare?

I have never (possibly will never) smell the original, but love the 2016 version. Definitely find it worlds better than the only other Borneo I've smelled, Midori Qi, very long lasting and well balanced. The kind of oud that your wife who hates oud will admit is pretty nice ;)

Are you all really waiting? :Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

I’m just so busy with work, family and other projects that I have to admit, it’s taken too long. The worst thing is that I’ve only been a couple of days of focused work away from launch for a month now... I’m just chipping away whenever and wherever I can. Even on the work commute.
