Musk Man
Today I decanted a one and a half years old Tibetan Siberian Kashmiri Musk, Mysore Santal and Green Papua maceration BECAUSE the Musk Magic has got its maximum momentum. Even after five hours my finger tips are musky.
The fragrance is like divine darkness that is the origin of all colours. This maceration is now like Fragrant Darkness, and it emits grace, sanctity, love, beauty, truth. I am fully mesmerized.

I macerated 2.1 gram oil in Musk grains. Now just 1.3 I could decant in two different vials. One gram in a separate vial, and 0.3 in a separate. The former is to use, and the latter is to preserve.

Now the grains in the original bottle are to be used for new maceration.

Musk Man
Today, rinsed the Tibetan Musk Pod to get the bone dry grains. Put aside the Musk fragrance in the room, my nose has fully blocked, rather if I sniff grains even once, a sudden spurt of blood will definitely be there. But, I am happy with this blockage that is the logical outcome of sniffing pure grains. If it doesn't happen, better throw those grains away.

Extremely powdery grains I successfully got after rinsing the hard walls of the Pod. Beautiful into beautiful!

Such a beautiful attar.
Candied rose - creamy and elegant. A nice balance. It is on the sweet side but it’s an amber vanilla kind of sweetness. An arsenal of accessories notes to compliment the rose. Walking on the fine line of masculine and feminine. This is probably the best out of the 1ml purchase spree from the same house I did a while back. Complex and Incredibly niche smelling yet with hints of dejavu. It is not smokey (comparing to the likes of Elixir attar’s Arabia and Sultan Pasha’s tribute to Amouage’s Tribute) and it is not bright like ASO’s SAQR II. Sits comfortably in the middle ground of the two genres yet expressing characteristics of all three other rose centric attars above. Extremely comforting like a pacifying childhood blanket. Still not a fan of rose (as most of the time they smell extremely feminine, or sharp and unbalanced), yet Tudor Rose jumps straight to my top 4 (previously I only had 3 on my favorite rose centric attars which I mentioned above :p), although I might add another one soon to my list - Ensar Rose from Sultan Pasha. I remember really liking it when I tested from his sample set - the prominent Vetiver added a unique dimension to it... waiting for my full bottle to arrive so I can experience Ensar Rose a little more liberally.
Did I mention TR shape-shifts quite a bit ?

PS - does anyone know what happened to the Etsy shop?

Thebes by Sultan Pasha
Put on my tee-shirt and decided to use the last of my sample of Thebes.
A very powerful attar in terms of sillage and projection. Very western in scent profile. Floral masculine, with hints of animalics and a woody backdrop. All the notes are well blended and in harmony - nothing sticks out like a sore thumb. I remember reading somewhere before I made the sample purchase, stating the animalic/musk note was nuclear to a point where it is a little disturbing and not an easy one to like... I disagree. It is actually really beautifully composed and a really easy wear. It actually smells quite clean. My only regret is that I didn’t wear a proper dress shirt to go with this attar.
According to the official description, it ends with the scent of dry rot and decay - I guess I will have to wait and see, but so far, so good.

Saffron Musk Cohiba Maceration - Elixir Attar

Imagine going to a Fro-Yo bar (where the Fro-Yo is the Sandalwood oil, and the other notes are like the toppings). You have the option to have the plain vanilla frozen yogurt, or have something to top it off just to give your dessert a little more kick and depth.
This is the case with this maceration - don’t expect an attar - but rather a sandalwood oil on steroids.
The profile is milky and predominantly sandalwood - but with a nice twist and more depth. The notes from saffron gives it a “spice” feel. I use quotation on the word spice because it’s not Spicy but rather it’s distinct aroma. The cigar is there - but it doesn’t play a major role - it gives a slight woody bitterness of tobacco . When I say slight - I really mean it. It’s not a in your face tobacco vanilla kinda of profile, rather, a supporting role. Same as the musk ...to my nose - this is not dirty nor right-wing animalic... yet it makes its presence known. You know there is something lurking underneath and ready to pounce. Opening has decent projection - it quickly evolves into a skin scent - around 7cm. The overall vibe is warm - definitely something for autumn and something to cozy up to. If you are looking for an attar that show cases individual notes listed (sandalwood, musk, cigar and saffron) - you will be disappointed as it is not loud. If you are a fan of sandalwood prominent scent - you will most probably enjoy this (though definitely not for the purists). A very smooth nice maceration with no clash or edges. As it progresses - the toppings becomes more and more incorporated, and eventually becomes one coherent composition.
This oil that should be worn on its own, with no other distractions - like a delicate flower, that can readily crushed and overwhelmed by outside forces.
Now I am not sure if this oil will smell different a year down the line (as there are a lot of saffron and some black bits - I m guessing that’s the cohiba and musk?) but as of now - it’s pretty darn good.
All hail McFlurry

Musk Man
Aluhlaza Marakata by Tyson: Now onward, whenever I recall the best Mysore Santals, it will be in first three oils. I just opened the vial, which reached here after 35 days, the Musk saturated olfactory shouted in no time 'What a Mysore-ian flare in this Santal oil'.

Dear Tyson, you yourself crushed Celestial and Inkenyazi by distilling and then releasing Aluhlaza. You have touched the zenith. The oil is a stunning Travelogue.

Respected Bryan, do you have some experience with macerating Musk in Frankincense oil by Tyson? I just read about macerating grains in JK's Musk Attar that I found extremely strong for Musk grains. Hope you will share about the end result.

No experience with musk in Frankincense. Sounds interesting. I want to add more musk to this blend as what I have added only seems to exalt the rose component and not exude the musk I desire for a blend that is named Rose Musk.

Swiped my Al Ghaliyah #2 of 4

#1 was excellent, #4 was very good, this #2 is crazy good!, meaning better than excellent.

It reminds me so much of ASO Al Ruba’ie, add to that a touch of rose...and...BAMM!

I should try #3 next time.

Gee... I wish I could share this experience....if only I could reproduce this to make 500ml, but alas.......some things are just meant to be.

I’m sure that those who choose to experiment with blends will likely stumble upon something really precious:praying:
