AA wanmei other day
It has put on weight, gathered more intensity and fully come out of its hibernation. Is a wow oil now. Take kenmei, less green mint, more bittersweet and darker honey notes.

AA philipina 1 last night
Forever a joyous delicious and mind bend oil. Terrific tenacity. Marjoram, lavender leaves, tarragon clover honey. Cooling notes too. Beast oil but oh so smooth and sensual.

AA kencana
Hmmm. Not yet. Or not for me. Too much smoke for my liking for now.

AA royal lao before afternoon nap today
Royal guallam meets shah jahan. They have a baby in China and their neighbour is IO Abdullah cooking FHI. Medium - projection makes it a mustache oil. Mind medicine and a great scent both.

Encens royale 85 few wears in and below is my complete impression:

Was expecting a maroke like oud with more incense and less damp wood, mud, forest floor. I was far off. Virtually zero relation to maroke except maybe the colour and viscosity.

Instead I see it as:
80% Malay (of which tw95 aged longer and lost 30% of its camphoric note + the antique magagony musk note of TWR and a couple pinches of that classic hardcore malay resin in kannan koh or Ahmad)
20% new guniea or more in particular Abdus Selam.

No relation whatsoever to the two Sumatra oils I know FO vsi and AA ambrosia. Also I don’t see any relation to the Aceh variety grown in Sumatra or the wood of VSI from FO.

Great oil for the price. Trrrific after the camphor note quiets down. Very satisfying.

After an early morning burn of Shoyeido First Class square cuts, I went with a swipe of AA Dao.

Very nice oil, I would never have picked up on it’s jungleness if I hadn’t done a side by side with LMK’s EDVietnam.

Right now at drydown, I am reminded of my burn session..........those square cuts had a high resin content........and the resin in DAO is what’s coming through, or should I say resinous accord:Cooler:

Sproat de Parfums :D

Today was Sri Pada by Imperial Oud. Went to a family meeting so decided that a Hindi may not be the best choice
and what a great choice SP was! Love it
A lot of Ceylon Ouds were released after Sri Pada, and they might be of great quality, but this Sri Pada is unique in a sense its aroma has numerous shades. Its colour itself is beauty.

chugoku naya:
let me say right off the bat that i find chugoku senkoh to be the superior oil for me. CS is so focused, to the point and devoid of noise. CN on the other hand is CS with a whole bunch of pretty floral beautiful notes on top.

opening shows little to no chinese character, minus that note some see as peanuts, some as top soil, potting soil, etc. but ever so slight. there is a sinesis sweetness that is marvelous. no booze. no gisneng. no bitter sinesis notes. it doesnt really go hindi agalocha route either. i mean there is hay, mild mild barn from distant, some wool, sheep and horse notes but so subtle. no fermented fruit, fecal, sharp notes of ferment, cheese or funk. this oil is basically a chugoku. not hindi, not chinese. is its own thing and what a thing of beauty too.

there are more than noticeable jasmine sambac and jasmine leaf notes in chugoku naya. also a fleeting mild lemon grassy kind of note. a hell of a layered and complex oil. to my nose and at the current stage the jasmine and lemongrass notes are a bit disjointed and i love to see more integration. basically, i guess i am saying i want naya to behave like senkoh. not entirely, but almost. not fair on naya as it can and does stand on its own two feets and then some.

either way a beautiful oil no doubt. it yells quality and deft hand at work. lovely stuff.

on a hindi binge.

an oldie but a goodie: Eo naga sumi. soft, round, coconut husk, subdued lychee fruit. minimal to almost no barn. golden hay. an oil that is at ease and ready for guilt free enjoyable wear

IO shahjahan
damn fine oil. one of the very few oils my mind stops dissecting it and see the many pieces for its make up. instead, i see as one whole entity. i cant explain the scent. i keep feeling it smells like gold, but then again last time i checked there was no scent to gold. last forever too.

even tried the EO assam organic, but then had to go scrub off. still no can do this genre of hindi.
