Quang Nam (Vietnamese red clay) incense stick from Taha.
Amazing, grounding incense. My favorite incense that I own.

What a coincidence, my pkg. from Kohgenworld arrived today. I’ve been lighting up some Vietnamese soil agarwood incense, quite pleasant, it’s their house brand Jinkai.
Been firing up the Kyukyodo Haru No Yama also, i’ve wanted to try it for many years now, it comes close to Akikaze, now I have all three scrolls.

It is under 300USD FOR 0.5g
Very very faint aroma. I also got the powdered version of the purple kinam.

That one is a lot more intense (relatively speaking - no where near as strong as the oils). It does remind me of some of the Ensar Kinams.

Just used my electric burner for the powder. It is quite a strong scent. At 200 C. That sharp kinamic scent found in Kinam Rouge and Purple Kinam is present. A slight creamy undertone. Had to turn it down to 180 C because they start to get a little too dark.

Haven’t heated it yet but I just wanted to share with you guys.
i am sure you know very well already, but honestly lowest of the lowest heat and a piece size of mustard seed or even smaller will be magic. this stuff gotta be preserved and rationed. magic! enjoy :) i have yet to try white kinam. love to hear your thoughts.

Yeah the vendor recommended 0.01 g and a temp of 90-110 for powder and 100-120 for wood slivers. But creature of habit... I started heating the powder at 180... [emoji23]

Thanks for the tips! I am gonna lower it down further ! Do you find the aroma too faint at lower temps? Like you need to lean in slightly above to get a whiff of it? I am afraid to use charcoal.. since I am terrible at controlling lower temp with that haha

nooooooo to charcoal. as for the lower temp, even at 60 i find it jumping out at me. at 90 is fully penetrating and at 120-150 is now a different profile. it smokes and some love that, but to me at that temp the sub category notes are lost and only a general kinam note is felt.

my 2 cents.

i have further spliced 0.1 gram of green oil kyara to at least 20 pieces and i get tons of enjoyment and ooomph from each of those tiny particles. is magical to witness a smaller than grain size can release so much intense perfume.

That’s worth way more than 2 cents! I get what you mean totally. At the temp I was heating, all I could smell was the kinamic note and a light creamy undertone and that’s it... I feel like I need to heat that in a freshly cleaned room without any other scent lol

KZ Kyphi Kobunki incense stick tonight. My first time trying this. No oud in this one but very interesting.

KZ description:
this incense presents a “kobunboku”/好文木 scent profile as seen in many japanese incenses, but more intriguingly, this profile was achieved in this incense stick with only the use of ingredients mentioned in the kyphi recipes (Ebers papyrus, Discoredes, Edfu etc) dating back to ancient egyptian times. cinnamon, mastic resin, honey, raisin (extract), frankincense (B. papyrifea), pine resin, camel grass, myrrh, mint, cardamom, cyperus grass etc etc etc.
