You will love the final result. The colour would turn black within minutes. Black Beauty. I am ecstatic to visualize the images of the maceration you have.
Yes,turned completely black and sludge like as expected after 4 drops of TW95 and 7 drops santal midy.Somewhat melted so i added more ambergris and musk.Dont normally use heat but had to sit this in a hot bath,I will take a pic when i make it home a little later

Ok so I wish to try my first official blend. I have the following ingredients:

Siberian Musk grains
White Ambergris
Musk Attar (from Rising Phoenix)
Ambergris in Mysore Sandal
Ambergris tinctures
Taif rose
Indian Rose
Saffron tincture
Motia Attar
A Whole bunch of ouds - mainly Ajmal higher-end ones which I think are suitable for blending Cambodi no.1; Hindi Khaas al Khaas

Any idea what I can do with this bunch?

I was thinking of combining the musk and ambergris in equal proportions 0.5g/0.5g
Then settling that into Sandalwood Mysore (3ml)
Mixing the ouds and adding a mix of Taif/Indian rose and saffron tincture 80 oud : 20 rose-saffron mix
Let those two sit independently for a couple months, then add them together. Would that be too much sandalwood in the final blend?

Hi, can mukhallats be made with oud and other ingredients by co-distilling them together or are mukhallats made only by cold blending them? What about hydro diffusion in oud oil? Can mukhallats be made entirely without oud eo? Please help:Thumbsdown::Thumbsdown::Thumbsdown:

Mukhallat simply means a blend, and it is a mixture of fragrant oils 'cold' as you put it, though heat can be used for better/easier mixing.

Attar is when raw materials are codistilled to make a scent.

Oudh is not a necessary component in either, but it is usually used for the richness and depth in brings to the composition.

Thank you @ Al Shareef Oudh. Couldn't have thought of such precise and succulent explanation:praying::praying::praying:.
So, if a person were to hydro distill any eo and diffuse it in oud eo by letting it get collected in the collection funnel where oud oil has already been placed, would it be a mukhallat or attar?
Am a newbie, so please bear with me for asking questions too obvious to other distillers.

I think if you made that you would want to be sure people knew what you meant. Since this is a unique method, why rely on a term used for other products? If you simply say it is a mukhallat, people will assume it’s a cold mix. If you call in a “traditional attar” people might assume it is is distilled into a receiver charged with sandalwood. Maybe you should just describe something like this - call it an oud-based hydrodistilled attar I guess?

Hi Mr P, that's a good idea. But, I have heard of such methods being used. Only I don't know what are such oils called.:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

Waaaay to much rose will kill everything will smell like rose mostly.
I have experiment it like 10 ml sandalwood 1 gram civet paste and few drops Bulgarian Rose Otto, if use more than few drops of the rose it smells like rose only. Rose oil is very strong.
Very much true rose ab is very powerful it will overpower the whole blend i always add it drop by drop.
