Thanks for the warm welcome!
I hope this question doesn't break rules but are the sellers on Amazon legit for oud oil purchases?
I couldn't possibly comment on that! Who are they?

Hello all! New member here from Baltimore MD. Looking to start my journey into the world of oud oil as my fragrance journey is at a stand still because I haven't found anything interesting recently. I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on this but would like to get a taste with as cheap as possible. I received a few small samples of Cambodian and Vietnam oud oil and was blown away at the deep dark pugnent woody backbone these oils produced.
Question... Is all oud from a specific place similar? Like the Cambodian Oud I tried, would it smell the same if I ordered some elsewhere or are they all different in their own way due to distilling? Any help or guide to starting small would be appreciated! Thanks!
@Jonathan big welcome to the forum, your in the right place to explore the vast ocean of Oud and natural perfumes. I have never purchased off amazon but when i was new to Oud i did buy oils off ebay. I was going for all the "cheap" stuff and purchased lots of different types. It turned out later on i learnt these oils were not pure and i would never wear them now. I still keep them because what they did do is teach me and help train the nose. I have never dealt with these vendors so cant comment on their oils but most of the time if its too good to be true it generelly is. Oils from the same reigon can produce a different scent based on the wood, distillation style, soaking times, water type etc. Usually reigons do carry the same DNA at some stage of the scents progression from top to basenotes, however sometimes some oils do leave you stunned as to where they are from but not very often.

Dearest Ouddicts,
I am a tea enthusiast who also enjoys making his own incense. I have a deep affection for handicrafts and artisanal products that cultivates the beauty of what nature gives us. I am new to oud oil. This has led me here to this forum and to this lovely community. I have been reading the wonderful and lively posts here silently as I develop my understanding of oud. I love the depth in this community that touches on the history, culture, development and trends of oud. I am excited to be on this path that promises new discoveries, opportunities and fresh experiences to be savored. It definitely takes me out of my comfort zone of being a tea enthusiast for almost 20 years.
I have ordered samples from various vendors and look forward to exchanging notes.
Sincerely,
Varat
