sorry I was half awake when typing it and didn't realise that you weren't PersonelHigh
Assalamu'alaykum and Greetings!
I'v been a lurker for a while now and thought it was time to introduce my self. My name is Sayed Alvi and I am from Chicago, IL. Currently I am a University Student.
To me, the interest and usage of Oudh and Natural perfumery beckons a calling to the spiritual. More than just complex molecules that flutter into our olfactory neurons, beautiful scents connect oneself with the divine and angelic. God is beautiful and loves that which is beautiful. Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him loved perfume and emphasized its usage. We love the Beloved peace be upon him and all that which he loves...
Over the past few weeks i have learned so much from this blessed place and its amazing people. I have had a fascination for Oudhs for about five years now, starting my journey off from Oudimentary and working my way up to other fantastic Artisans. In fact since joining this community, iv purchased from a resident merchant and a lovely brother who was selling from his collection. Shout outs to the beautiful brothers Al-Shareef Oudh and Shabby. Every time come to this place, I learn so much and gain much benefit. AlhamduliAllah.
Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this beautiful community. Jazzakum Allah Khair wa BaarakAllahu Fikum,
Zenvi welcome to the forum. Looking forward to your posts!
Wa'likum salam and welcome here brother Sayed.
I hope you will enjoy participating here and share with all the community your 5 years experience !
Welcome Sayed. Hope you are well and enjoying the journey. See if you can make it out to the Oud Fayre in Vegas on 27-28 of October.
Whereabouts in Chicago do you live? I lived there for 7 years until 2015. There is another Ouddict who lives in the burbs, y'all can meet up perhaps.
Thank you! Honored to be here. Looking forward to learning and reading from you as well
Thank you brother! I still consider myself a beginner in the world of oudh, but whatever little I have to share i would be more than happy to. Here is something interesting; In Islam, according to scholars, there is no excessiveness (Israaf) when spending money in perfumery due to the effect it has on the soul. I always found this video awe inspiring; It's about perfume and it's relation in Islam: .
I am i inspired by all of you and your extensive knowledge with oudhs and natural perfumery and hope to be a student who learns
Thank you Brother. The journey has been amazing. I feel like the archetypal yearning student who goes to find the master to learn his desired objective. I have enjoyed traveling and experiencing the joys (and sorrows in some cases) of perfume from places like Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia & America. And of course the sacred agarwood trees from different regions. But now I have arrived at the Masters' digital doorsteps, ready to enter and learn.
7 years! I wish I had the opportunity to meet up with you. Im up in the north side of the city by Edgewater. Thats so cool that there are more members here in Chicago. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it out for the Oud Fayre this year but perhaps another time inshaaAllah!
Welcome (or, "croeso", in my country's native language [Wales]) Zenvi, nice to have another new face here!
Diolch! Its an honor to be a part of this community.
@Zenvi, welcome to the house of oud addicts!
Welcome @Nadeem !
Seems like you may have missed this thread...No problem...
This is where new members intoduce themselves before posting all over the place...specially pics of one vendor doing sneaky stuff at other vendors’ table at the Oud Fayre
Sorry, bad manners on my part. I joined today and I have an interest in Oud. Hopefully I will become a part of this community in the months and years to come.
