Today I study the comparaison of two wood.

    1/ Sabah

    2/ vietnam

It is incredible how the scent profile are different.

Sabah is very sweet with honey and orange peel when the vietnam is spicy with leather and some barn.

Hmm... Mandeel, when you burn, are you creating lots of smoke? I've been heating my wood, just to where it releases scent but very rarely is there more than a little wisp of smoke. This way, I get to enjoy all the nuances of the scent, during a long gentle burn... and without the smoke. I would imagine this would be way healthier!

Heating the Agarwood also has the advantage of savouring the delicate notes. It's more economical, and safer.

If like smoking cigarettes, your lungs will clear up if not damaged. As littlecrowgirl said. Heat and away from you. I also heat my incense this way. No direct smoke in the lungs are good. Hope you heal my friend.

Today I decide to put a tiny piece of Al Shareef oudh hudhayl mandalee indian wood and listen closely.

First vapor was a puff of mushroom and wild honey, I imediatly think of Ceen opening.
The scent development was slow as I heat a very small piece at low temp.
slowly the scent opening in a multyfacet fragrance.
The scent become slightly animalic with notes of musc, leather and ambregris.
the base is made of spices and wild honey, with some fruity notes.
This symphony of scents always stay smooth/silky and never agressive.
Heat a piece of hudhayl is a journey on its own.

Brother, if you dont have a variable voltage electric burner, just fire a charcoal and wait like 15 min before putting wood on it vapor is better than smoke for health brother Mandeel is right.

If you can find a mica plate, even better better, put a small micca plate on the charcoal (wait until the charcoal becomes white) then, you can start your incense session.

May Allah bless you, I ordered directly.

I've been searching on ebay "Mica for incense" etc etc.. I thought the mica plate for bakhoor was different from others :)

No, any clear sheet mica will do. The layered grey stuff will also work but tends to be too thick as they have many layers. Clear one will be the natural mica, depending on the thickness you could even split that up into more sheets.
