Oud Mystic
Hello friends,

I saw Pure Oudh mentioned in @powdernose blind test's results.

Before envisioning an order, I was wondering if anyone had feeback on their products, other than the Sweet Trat that rated well in the test.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! :praying:

Furthermore since descrptions are pretty minimal on their site and without customer feedback.

Warm regards,
Nicolas

Hi,

I also tried Trat Extreme, Camobodi Seufi and Green Malaysian.
Trat Extreme is in a similar vein to Sweet Trat, but with a rounder fruitiness, more of a soft woody character, but also less intensity and not much in the way of backbone, Sweet Trat did well I believe in part due to a incensy leathery base.
Seufi comes off a bit like a cross between Thai and Cambodian. Some light barn in the forefront, a subdued fruity sweetness, but also not as dark a fruit as one might expect from a Cambodi. Some light tobacco, but again not at the depth of a great Cambodi. Certainly decent.
Green Malaysian is a lovely scent. Green sweet forest, subtle, with a twinge of medicinal bitter. I wish it had greater intensity, if it did, I'd be in love.

@Sproaty What did you expect of the cheapest sheet thin cultivated wood? :p
I've tried the Prachinburi cultivated which I imagine is better than what you tried, but only serviceable,
and the cheaper wild Sabah which is nice for the price.
I also have some Mori, but no opinion yet.

What is very nice is the frankincense. Wonderfully fragrant, it is actually under another web-page

@Nicolas, you should use the online chat, I did and found it very useful. Helped me select.
In fact I thought service was excellent. Good helpful chat, generous, well packed, shipped the same day.
The only thing I didn't like is the bulky plastic centrifuge vial they use for samples:

@Sproaty, @powdernose

Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences.

I saw the chat opening but didn't engage. Excellent suggestion to do so.

I was envisioning to get a few samples. If I end up doing so, I will complement the thread for others, on top of the useful reviews powdernose made.

ps : just for info you can also get the frankincense on the site itself (and cart):

Thanks for your review of the frankincesne btw. I wasn't considering it, as I already have quite a few frankincense oils (and load of different qualities of resins to heat) but as it is a great favorite of mine, I might give it a try after reading you.

I was talking about the actual resin tears (as Sproaty mentions), not the essential oil.
Makes me wonder how good the green Hojari is.

I forgot to mention regarding the excellent service, during the online chat I had a request (regarding page options) which was immediately seen to.

Dear powdernose, is the vial going to run away!? Held so tightly:Roflmao:

:) One never knows when oud might have the notion to run off and sprinkle itself across the lawn ;)

Exactly @powdernose I wanted to try the lowest end that I can compare my more expensive ones, but I have my doubts over its authenticity based on the chemically kinda smell

Actually that sounds typical that type of quality,
I have some cultivated Thai direct from a Thai supplier that I got years ago, and that description doesn't feel far off.

So I placed an order with Pure Oudh / Pure Sacra a little time back

Kareem's online service was indeed excellent and friendly, the packaging flawless, the samples generous. I will hopefuly review the oud oils (beyond the now famous sweet trat ;-) before they are all gone from the site, but I am terribly behind on that account.

As far as the resins go: The Royal green is great. Surpisingly (as a bit less expensive) the supreme is even probably better. Sadly he was out of the sultan (and still is). So his top resins are really first class. On the less expensive end The red frankincense is good and the myrrh was fine (not exceptional but not bad at all, a bit dusty)

And the Sacred Frankincense Essential Oil (Premium Edition) is one of the bests I have ever tried so far (and I have / have had dozens of high quality ones, frankincense being one of my "fundamentals" in both resin and oil form)

Finally, his palo santo essential oil is also abolsutely excellent. Very conductive for energy work and spiritual practice. I am not really a palo santo specialist but it is definitely better than the 2 or 3 I have here (which are good omes). And the wood chunk I got was also excellent, vividly fragrant.

That's it for today :)

... well almost... I want to thank @Sproaty and @powdernose for their feedback here, because without it / them, I am not sure I would have placed my order.

I find it is one of the great purpose of this forum also, to share our info and exeriences about less established vendors !

I'm sniffing Sweet Trat as I write this. Such a clean, pristine, straight forward and beautiful oud for every occasion and day. :)
And it lasts with almost same notes for very decent hours... really worthy of its price. :)

Thanks for following up. I did think the resins were classy.
It is especially good to have feedback about the other essential oils.
Sharing experiences about less explored options on the forum is definitely useful.
