What to do on sick days at home? Put a blend together.

Project tropical island jungle:

Kinamantan: for its vaporous dusty and high pitched note

Abdus selam: for its quiet, inner peace, brown dark green blue oceanic vibe and spices

Green papua: for its jungly green spicy sweet complimentary notes

Syed ascent: to take it up to the skies and go extra terrestrial. Also to bring out earth notes

Oud Royale Sri Lanka: for oomph more spice touch of fruit and accentuate the blue green

Our royle no 5: for its mud, forest floor, deep dark green black brown and gently smoky notes

Sandal to give volume softness touch of butter and soothing qualities.

Will let it rest a while and try later and see how the proportions work. What is a Abscent what is dominating. What’s lost what’s not. Make adjustments and then try two versions: oil vs alcohol dilution and atomizer application. To the latter I may add touch of petit grain, oakmoss and Aglaia absolute. Tbd.

I would love to hear your review.
I know the PNG and Filaria will dominate, and there’s no escaping Kinamantan’s highs, but I’m most curious as to the effect of the Walla Patta.

Do tell:praying:

In due time. Plan to leave it rested and gently heated by keeping the vial in my palms and shaken.

I am thinking the salt spice and touch of fruit in Abdus selam and orsl will add a dimension to an otherwise Woody earthy green jungle scent.

Kinamantan and Syed ascent for top notes plus the spice and walla bomb opening of orsl

Gp and Abdus selam for mid

Or5 for base but also the super incense drydown of orsl

Sandal to bring a softness and buttery suave quality to overall composition.

Will see what it will be like. In my minds nose and eye I see this totally working. I am thinking If anything, it will be a ratio thing I may have to play with. I may need to up Abdus selam and gp. Maybe Syed accent too. Strongly Doubt or5 orsl kinamantan need any more presence.

Respected Oudamberlove, just try Mysore Santal, Ceylon Oud (any one from any vendor) and Musk. Exquisite result will be there. First, honey syrupy texture. Even colour is like honey gotten from sugar cane fields. Fragrance is multi-dimensional. When I initiated this maceration, I wasn't sure about that much stunning result as I was entangled in the popular belief that sweet Malaysian Oud suits Musk more than any other Oud. Now I say a big NO to that popular belief.
Just Walla Patta Oud, and then Santal (again just Mysore), and Musk (be it Siberian, Tibetan or Kashmiri). I found Siberian more beautiful in this recipe.

Now I am addicted to wearing Walla Patta Oud blended in vintage Musk maceration.

Dear Rai,

I will definitely include that recipe in my blends-to-do list. I will use my oldest maceration (5yrs) of Siberian musk in Mysore. I’ll post the results. The Sandalwood was from RK&Sons (Amit Tandon), it was not great when young, but 5 years later it smells good in the maceration.

I know you have a similar blend with a floral element (jasmine), but I don’t have a good jasmine oil so I will use blue lotus instead for a small test batch. Will post about it when completed.

Zak and JK both offer Jasmine Sambac.

Blue Lotus!!! What else can be more beautiful than this. But, alas! How difficult it is to find quality Lotus oil!

I must be lucky then, because out of 3 blue lotus oils that I have, one is really good. The cotton swab test gives an uncluttered blue lotus aroma, that stays nice till and throughout drydown.

As for Jasmine Sambac (sampaguita), I associate the smell with funerals, so i can’t use it in blends:(

Just did. I’ll let it she and report back. Do you recommend gently heating it to maybe 40-50 degrees or just leave it at room temp?
3x sandal (Io 02 mysore, rpp timor and touch of celestial gold from Tyson)
with Siberian musk
and 3x ceylon: adh2, ceylon royale and one good drop of the beast orsl

I have only one blue lotus oil (celestial), so nothing to compare it to . What is the brand that you recommend?
